Gran Luchito Smoked Chilli Paste is an incredibly versatile little ingredient, but if we had to choose one dish for it, it would have to be a chilli con carne. It adds a smoky depth of flavour that works perfectly. A good chilli con carne is a great thing to have in your repertoire, and there's loads of ways to serve it besides simply in a bowl with tortilla chips.

Ingredients

  • 500g beef mince
  • 2 onions, chopped
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 stick celery, chopped
  • 2 carrots, chopped
  • 2 red peppers, chopped
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • 2 tsp Gran Luchito Smoked Chipotle Paste
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 400g tinned kidney beans
  • 400g chopped tomatoes
  • 2 tbsp creme fraiche
  • 4 tortilla chips, to serve

Method

Step 1

Finely chop all the fresh veg (onion, garlic, celery, carrots, peppers) and gently fry in olive oil for 8-­10 mins or until nice and soft in a large casserole dish.

Step 2

Throw in the Gran Luchito Smoked Chipotle Paste, cumin and cinnamon.

Step 3

Add the tomatoes and kidney beans.

Step 4

Fry the minced beef in another frying pan to brown (this will add flavour to the meat) then add to the other ingredients.

Step 5

Add salt & pepper to season.

Step 6

Put a lid on it, leaving a small gap and cook on a low heat for about an hour (longer if you have time).

Step 7

Taste and add more seasoning if necessary.
