Tuna with a Spicy Twist
Rio Mare is undoubtedly the best brand of tinned tuna available in the U.K. I usually by the plain tuna in olive oil and add Calabrian chilli flakes myself, or not, depending on the dish I’m making. These were on offer, so I gave them a go. Superb flavour and just the right amount of seasoning. Delicious in a sandwich, with mayo in a jacket potato or added to a sauce for pasta. The person complaining about “little white balls” should know not to store this product in the fridge! The “white” is what occurs when olive oil is stored at a very low temperature; it’s harmless too.
Rot
The ones I got which I kept in the fridge and for which the date was still okay were rot, there were little white balls. I read that it was not eatable anymore with these balls.
A real kick
Rio Mare is my favourite tuna and makes other cheaper brands taste like cat food. I love chilli and this has a real kick. Definitely worth buying especially on offer!
Never going back to cheaper alternatives
After trying this brand I understand why its not the cheapest. definitely worth it, very tasty
Brilliant quality
Undeniable really high quality tuna with a beautiful colour and flavour. Not too much chilli flavour, just a hint really, but it is pleasant nontheless. Expensive for sure, but the brand has become my favorite and well worth it in my opinion.
Firm favourite for quick lunch
My husband has this regularly for a quick working lunch. He prefers Rio Mare to other brands and the chilli version is his favourite. Its a small tin but enough for a sandwich, its not the cheapest but it is consistently good quality.
