Comfortable
Got this on offer for £9 instead of £12. I think that is still a bit too steep a price for a masher but it has at least been good. Having a horizontal handle to push down is much more comfortable than my old masher that was just a vertical stick to hold. Mine has shown no signs of bending like some other reviewers have experienced but I normally break the spuds up to small chunks with a knife as I mix butter in before mashing.
Bent pretty easily
I was initially please with the results but the sides bent and are impossible to straighten so now Im quite annoyed with it.
Simple but effective
Easy to use and easy to clean, seems well constructed and I imagine it will be with us for many years, like other OXO products we have. Husband wasn't convinced but since using it has agreed it was a worthwhile investment!
A pleasure to use
Really expensive but a very good masher. Thanks to the reviewer who said to twist the gadget into the potatoes rather than pressing straight down, will try. It's a comfortable and effective product. I only knocked a point off because of the price of it but I'm really glad I got it.
Updated review upgraded score.
I had fallen out of love with my old masher and bought this product on the strength of the two 5 star reviews and the fact that I have other OXO products I like. I originally awarded 3 stars because it's light, easy to use and does what it's supposed to do. It lost two stars because I found it easily deformed from its square configuration. The rigidity of the product could be improved without compromising on weight. However, adopting a technique of 'screwing' the masher into the potato instead of 'plunging' up and down vertically I now feel it could last longer than I originally expected. I still feel the price tag of £12 is somewhat steep for a product that was probably pressed out for pennies in China so it's not getting the full five stars from me.
great masher
Bought this from another shop. So glad I can buy other items from the OXO range at Ocado. Sturdy reliable masher.
