The Chitra Collection
Fore millennia, philosophers and sages developed the art of transforming fragile leaves into transcendent cups. Like alchemists, they understood the importance of water quality, temperature and brewing time - an art that is slowly fading.
It is this art that Newby seeks to revive, presenting the finest teas and honouring millennia of tradition with a one-of-a-kind museum collection.
Curated as carefully as our teas, Newby's Chitra Collection chronicles the very history of tea in priceless objects. We have chosen to feature one of these objects with each of our teas and tisanes.
Silver-Gilt Monkey Teapot Germany, c. 1600
Depicting a female monkey holding two of her young, this teapot was likely the inspiration for the celebrated monkey teapots produced by German porcelain manufacturer Meissen in the 1730s.

Gorgeous black tea
I have become an ardent fan of Kan-Junga for a lovely cup of tea. The pyramid tea bag is perfect for watching it brew - no bitterness and no unpleasant tea-bag taste. I use Modern Nature liquid Stevia sweetener when feeling like a bit of sweetness.
Floral tasting
I tried this tea with and without milk, it was better without milk with a slight Floral taste. I wouldnt have it again as I do prefer milk in my tea.
Bit too floral for my taste
I really enjoy teas that are made to be enjoyed both with and without milk. This tea was quite mild but had a floral flavour that I just didnt get on with. Wouldnt try these again but Newby have some really nice other flavours.
Nice tea bags
These make a lovely cup of tea but are much better without milk. Star knocked off as they are quite expensive.
delicate flavour
I think this is a tea to be enjoyed without milk. Lovely subtle fragrance that is very enjoyable
expensive but nice
