Husbands favourite
My husband loves these. He finds the M&S ones have way too much sugar on
Tiny, Tasteless and Terrible
Always been a love of Eccles cakes but haven't bought any in a while - I actually made my own last time. However thought I would have a treat, despite the price hike. What has happened to them. They are really bad. As others have said, the pastry is dry and not buttery as it used to be the currants are hard and almost tasted a bit burnt, but generally bland. They have shrunk unbelievably - like everything else these days. I wont be buying these again unless the recipe changes back to how they used to. be. Terrible
Full of vegetable oil
Used to be nice and buttery, now has rapeseed oil so I stopped buying.
Stodgy
Found the pastry really thick and hard in places, fruit rather dry too. It's been a long while since I had one and it was nothing like the ones I had as a kid. No flakey pastry and plump fruit... just poor.
Always good
These are always good. Warmed up for just a few seconds in the microwave being careful to make it just a few seconds so not to 'boil' the currants and burn your tongue! Delicious.
Disappointing
These were pretty tasteless and where has the sugar on the top gone?
