Awful
I've been eating Tofu for many years now and couldn't get my usual time tested brand. I tried this and was bitterly dissapointed. The price is absurd and the quality? It's a white-grey lump floating in a jar that bears only a passing resemblance to what Tofu should look like. In terms of cooking - it crumbles like crazy, no matter how careful you are with it. Just trying to press it, will see lumpy bits fall off. Avoid - the best I've found, if available in the UK (hit and miss), is the House Premium brand.
Ocado needs to update the cost otherwise great
As a previous reviewer stated this is 500g total weight but only 240g drained weight which works out at £1.75 per 100g. Most other tofu has very little liquid so the cost is probably about right. Tasted great and the holes were good as they absorbed the flavours well. Tofu was quite firm too Loved the glass jar and the fact its organic and has a good shelf life too. Probably good to keep one in the cupboard as an emergency supply.
Not 500g
Great to see a plastic free option. And based on 500g seemed price comparable with other brands. However, the drained weight is only 250g as stated on the jar but nowhere on the Ocado website.
Love it!!
We all love this tofu. It is firm and tasty. And comes in a glass jar!
Good store cupboard alternative
Got this as part of a stir fry deal. I don't think I wold have paid full price, but the tofu was okay and obviously longer shelf life than the usual kind.
Terrible
Only bought this because it was part of the stir fry deal, I'm glad I did because I would of been livid had I paid the disgraceful full price, it's really terrible tofu, has a lot of air holes when cut and goes a strange grey colour when fried, I should of weighed it because I'm really struggling to believe there is 500g there, an absolutely tiny block, Cauldron tofu is much bigger, tastes better and is a reasonable price and also organic. Biona is light years behind Clearspring in terms of price and quality I find their products continually disappointing and hugely overpriced - Avoid.
