3 tsp Bart Creole Blend, 450ml vegetable stock, 1 Bart Bay Leaf, 200g large shelled raw prawns, 2 ripe tomatoes chopped, 250g cooked white rice, 2 spring onions sliced.
In a large saucepan, heat the butter until bubbling then stir in the flour. Cook over a medium/low heat for 10 minutes, stirring continuously until rich golden brown. Add the onions, celery, pepper and Bart Creole Blend to the pan and stir for 2 minutes until the veg starts to soften. Slowly add the stock, stirring regularly to prevent lumps. When all the stock is incorporated add the Bart Bay Leaf and bring to a gentle simmer. Cook for 30 minutes. Add the prawns and tomatoes and simmer, cooking until the prawns are pink. Proper Creole seasoning
Absolute banger of a seasoning, a bit salty / spicy but elevates most dishes including wings and stews.
Good Quality and quite hot
I bought this as the Bart cajun spice blend is no longer available on Ocado. I love the cajun blend and use it for chicken, pork and potatoes. I was trying to find something similar and gave this a go. It was good quality, as you would expect with Bart and I found it very pokey. I dont know the typical flavours of Creole but this is quite paprika heavy. I not a big fan of paprika but that is my personal taste. A bit too hot for me but if you like that and the paprika then I would recommend this. Hence the five stars. I would ask Ocado to bring back the Bart Cajun blend. For me it cant be beaten.
Classic creole flavouring
Great creole flavouring - I use it for Classic southern style gumbo and its just amazing. You may need to take the salt down elsewhere in the recipe but the flavour is spot on Creole compared to best southern restaurants in the States
Salteeeeeee!
Far too salty. It overwhelmed everything else.
Flavourless
Usually I get creole seasoning from the US, but my stocks ran out and I decided to try this - it was absolutely flavourless! One of our favourite dinners we make regularly came out so bland that we didn't even want to eat it. I'd save your money on this and instead splurge to get something more authentic and actually has some taste.
Fantastic
Great product. Used it with chicken, tomatoes, roast peppers with pasta, and in paella.
