Product information

Martini & Rossi is the leading Italian sparkling wine producer. We harvest and store the fresh grape juice of Moscato Bianco grapes, harvested in the Asti DOC area. We arrest fermentation to keep the natural sweetness of the ripe musts that give Martini Asti its taste and aroma of grape juice, vine peaches, elderberry and sage. Its flavour is refreshing, sweet and fruity.

Tasting Notes
Martini Asti Sparkling Wine has the sweetness of the specially grown Moscato Bianco grape from the steep, sun-drenched hills of the Asti region. The grapes are pressed and fermented quickly to retain their natural aromatic qualities. The resulting pressed juices, called ‘mosto’, become the base that makes this wine retain an exquisitely fruity and fragrant character, with hints of green apple, peach and pear. On the tongue, rich, honeyed notes are balanced with the natural lighter grape must to create a taste explosion of fresh fruit and elderflower flavours
History
For over 150 years MARTINI has been passionate about crafting quality wine. Setting new standards, creating new styles of sparkling wines like rosé & demi-sec makes MARTINI one of the pioneers in the story of Italian wine production. Today MARTINI Spumanti embody a wine making heritage that is handed down from generation to generation.
Regional Information
The growing areas for Asti (Piedmont) are difficult areas in which to grow vines. High on the hillsides the vineyards are small, steep and labour intensive. But their unique climate is perfect for the aromatic freshness we need.
Machines can not easily operate here and harvesting is nearly always by hand.

Vinification Details
In 1895, Federico Martinotti, invented a new method to create Spumante. By creating the secondary fermentation in a closed and sealed vat he found a way not only to make wines of consistently high quality, but also a way to do it more quickly in order to preserve the natural freshness of the grapes. The process is now: grapes to fermentation, secondary fermentation to bottle.

A Family Favourite

Loved by all three generations of our family. We have this with our Christmas and New Year dinners, and with birthday cake. It's very sweet and light and a pleasure to drink. It's also only half the strength of most other wines/champagnes.

Great Taste

I hadn’t tried this for years but we had some at Christmas and we loved it. Not too sweet and certainly not dry.

far too sweet

It was like drinking fizzy syrup. (Which may have been appropriate as it was our sugar wedding anniversary) I had to throw it away

Just amazing!

Been having prosecco all my life not knowing Asti was a thing. Wow! It's sweet but fresh and it drinks like juice and happiness.

Fruity, Light and Lush

This is a firm family favourite for all ages - 18 to 80. It taste is fruity, light and lush. Very drinkable whether with a Sunday roast in the colder months, or a light salad when the weather is warmer. I love it chilled whilst sitting in the garden on a warm Summers afternoon with friends.
