Holiday Fun!
Had a lovely afternoon with the kids making sushi using this kit.
A great little kit and fun to make
My only reason for 4 stars is that despite following the instructions I found my rice was still a bit nutty . The instructions were clear and I loved the boil in the bag rice as it made less mess. I made mine with fish sticks. I liked that it came with the ginger, wasabi and soy sauce too
Fun kit for beginners
Reviewing this on behalf of Ocado. Fun kit with decent instructions for sushi beginners, but you might want to watch a video before rolling. Makes 2 rolls so not a big meal. Boil in the bag rice technique worked fine.
Good kit for a sushi newbie
I received this product free of charge as a reviewer. If you want to try making sushi rolls at home and dont know how to do it, this is a good product to buy. It comes with detailed instructions. I wasnt sure about the boil in a bag rice so I cooked it as I would normally cook Japanese rice.
Fantastic kit everything you need
I'm sushi obsessed but being an hour from my favourite sushi restaurant and being stuck in lockdown I was very grateful to be sent this to try out. I used to make sushi a lot but it was a bit of a faff to have everything at home at the right time this kit solves all that, absolutely everything but the filling is included: rice, mat, seasoning, nori, ginger, soy and wasabi. It even includes instructions if you've never made sushi before. I would definitely buy again the cost is really reasonable considering buying everything separately would cost a small fortune. Lovely to have when a sushi craving calls.
A nice way to get into sushi
I was offered this product to review. As my wife is Japanese we make sushi at home fairly often so was intrigued by this. Overall we were impressed. The rice was good quality a really important factor for sushi. The seasoning was well balanced too, not too sharp and not overly sweet or salty. This was nicely balanced for the amount of rice. the pickled ginger was good as a cleanser in-between. Ideally we would have like to have seen a little more rice and nori to make another roll or two. However at the price point it's still good value and a very good kit for getting started. We buy sushi grade fish from a local Korean supermarket but obviously there are easier options to get started with.
