Better than I expected!
I'd been putting off trying this, as going by the ingredients (dates, maple syrup) and some of the reviews, I thought I'd find it too sweet. I usually hate it when supposedly savoury foods are overly sweetened. However, I was pleasantly surprised. I didn't find it too sweet. In fact, I think it's the best of the Pieminster filo pies (Souk Chook is too salty and Light as a Feta is OK, but I'm not the biggest feta fan). I've already ordered again!
Dry and so many cumins seeds
I had high hopes, this was not for me. Every mouthful had cumins seeds & carrots that were crunchy and would cook down to soft., which as horrible. Definitely wouldn't buy again. Hoping for more and nicer recipes from Pieminister.
Not bad as a vegetarian option
If you're looking to cut down on your meat consumption and looking for vegetarian alternatives then it's worth giving these pies a go. Better than the feta/kale alternative if you like a mix of sweet and spice....but no competition for a beef pie, pickled onion, worcester sauce and chips!
Barely Edible
Sweet gloop in a filo parcel. Overpriced and barely edible. Would not recommend.
Really liked it
Loved the pastry and the spice. Wouldn’t pay full price for it though. People are saying it’s over sweet and it is pretty sweet. I thought that reflected the fruity Moroccan theme which it does but just checked the ingredients and I think maple syrup is a step too far!
Warming spice
We liked this a lot. I like the lighter filo pastry and did not find it tough. The spices were not overwhelming, just right we thought. I guess it's all personal preference but we are buying again.
