Disappointing
I wanted to love this - but its nowhere near the level of quality Ive come to expect from Pieminister. The pastry was incredibly dry and brittle, especially on the ends where it was all you got for several mouthfuls, and the filling was sparse. A very sad lunch, all in all! Maybe its better if you warm it up? Not so handy if you need to use the oven / air fryer for that, though.
Very Dry Pastry
Maybe it's better eaten not warmed up like I chose to do because I prefer savoury pastry pies to be warmed up. But even though I heated it up at a low temperature til just warm, the pastry was so dry. I've had many savoury pies over the years but never one with pastry as dry as this one was. There was a decent amount of filling, but some parts of it was too spicy for me and yet other parts weren't and okay in taste. I only gave one star because of the very dry pastry.
tasty
Pastry is flaky and crispy. Tomato sauce very flavourful. Well seasoned herby sausage, only complaint is needs more of it!
Back to the Drawing Board
Oh dear Pieminister, you've missed several marks with this one. As it stands, this isn't worth the £2 intro price never mind the full price! Where to start?! [1] Packaging - can't get into it without breaking the pie. [2] Heating - oven is recommended, for a product intended to be eaten on the go?! [3] Eating - pastry is tough and difficult to bite through at the joint between base and top. The filling is tasty, but the mouthfeel suffers due to the pastry. Yep, a lot of work to do if this product is still to be on the shelves next year.
sandwich alternative
a good change from a sandwich tasty and surprisingly filling. excellent packaging which is a real bonus. will be a bit pricey when not on offer.
yum!
The pastry : filling ratio is a bit heavy on the former and light on the latter. Lovely pastry though!
