Product information

Bourgogne Gamay became a new regional appellation in 2011. It is a blend exclusively from the 10 Cru Beaujolais appellations. Louis Latour's approach is to produce a wine which focuses on fruit and freshness with consistent quality.

Tasting Notes
This wine is shimmering garnet red in colour. On the nose red fruit aromas are revealed. In the mouth it is well-balanced, round and rich, revealing flavours of wild strawberry and fresh almonds.
History
The Latour family are long established in Burgundy's wine trade. They began as vine growers in the village of Aloxe-Corton as early as 1760s and went on to establish today's business, Maison Louis Latour, in 1797. Today they are one of the region's most famous names, creating wines from their own 50 hectare domaine in the Côte d'Or and from grapes and wines purchased through the negociant arm of the business.
Regional Information
Burgundy, located in eastern France, is split into five regions from Chablis in the far north, down through the heartlands of the Côte de Nuits and the Côte de Beaune and finally through to the Châlonnaise and the Mâconnais in the South.

Needs to breathe

An interesting wine, good depth, but quite peppery, it benefits from being left to breathe for several hours - 3 stars as not good value at £18, would only buy again if on offer

Very nice - French family favourite

Purchased a few Louis Labour wines to enjoy over Christmas and they have become family favourites and repeat purchases from here and WR

Confused.A Gamay .but not as I know it!

Its not unpleasant but it is confusing! It clearly is described as a 100% Gamay but it doesnt taste like it. Theres a hint of that Gamay flavour but it tastes more like a blend of Pinot noir and Gamay with the Gamay only just breaking through. At £16 its too expensive because I expect a Gamay to taste like one. At £12 on offer, it was worth a try. Its OK but I wont be buying this again.
