Pork Belly (100%)

I never had pork belly like this. Relatively thin, no big fat layer, no skin. Ignored the instructions and put in uncovered in the fridge overnight, covered with sea salt and pepper. Put it in the oven at 150C for three hours. Unbelievable tender, sublime taste and juicy without needing overly fatty. Really outstanding piece of meat.
Divine flavour and simply scrumptious
We followed the instructions on the packaging to the letter. It involved simple preparation and a long cooking period of what looked to be a rather small ordinary piece of meat. We were hugely surprised by the wonderful end result and so give it a 5 star rating for the sublime richness of taste and texture. Oh and the cooking juices made a fantastic gravy base. Delighted and buying again - the 0.5 kg pack was plenty for two persons.
Yummy! Does take 2.5 hours to cook so have to be prepared to get started early if you have hungry family. A lovely piece of pork belly which was nice and soft in the middle and wonderfully crisp around the edges! My five year old and partner gobbled it down and we had enough left for sandwich next day. It is expensive and so I would only buy if on offer. Ive ordered the beef sirloin for this week!
I would be livid had I paid full price for this. Fortunately I purchased on flash sale so can chuckle about the 1cm thick sheet of meat and connective tissue I received, with a 3-4cm thick wedge on one corner. Folded in half to appear more like a normal slab of pork belly, very creative. No skin, a little fat here and there but not in layers whatsoever, and a fair amount of not bad quality meat - but nothing worth this price point. I want to give 2 stars as once cooked it wasn't vile, tasted fine - just fine. But at this price I'm blown away at getting a sheet of scrag. One star for comedy.
Supplier's response - Thank you for your feedback about our dry aged pork belly, we are sorry you believe it didn't meet our very high standards for this product range. We only use the best part of the belly for this product, the dry ageing process unfortunately makes the rind inedible and it doesn't crackle very well which is why it is removed. This naturally makes the product a bit thinner and it is folded over to provide the best possible raw presentation as per the photos on the webshop. This butchery specification does mean you get only the best eating part of the belly and you are not left with any waste. We hope you will try the rest of the range and are sure you won't be disappointed.
