Its ok, my avocado still browned a bit but maybe not as much as when I do my usual lemon juice and cling film wrappy thing, and less faff is a win win for me. Also, easy to clean. That said, I might just start buying small avocados and eating the lot in one go. Life is too short to worry about eating partially browned large avocado halves anyway.
The shape is good
As others have pointed out avocados will always go brown once cut but this container is a great shape at least. I always douse my avocado-half with lemon or lime then store them in this and they stay green for at least six hours and they do not brown as quickly when stored overnight in the fridge but its a shame this container is not airtight. Some people swear by leaving the pit in and some people put avocado in a Tupperware box with raw onion. Raymond Blanc blanches a whole avocado for ten seconds before plunging it in to ice water. This stops it browning for up to 6 hours. I think this container and liberal lemon juice will do that for you too. For smoothies, guacamole or avo toast the frozen stuff works really well too. The science - An enzyme in avocados causes the flesh to oxidize when exposed to air, turning it brown color. This is why an avocado is green underneath the pit but brown on the exposed bits the surface under the pit is simply protected from oxygen.
Sometimes I have to take the stone out to store it, but this is a perfect container for avocados. Great that I don't have to waste a bit of plastic to wrap it up any more. Of course it's going to still go brown, you've cut it and it's been exposed to air. Nothinig will stop that, and also when it goes brown it's still edible so it's no problem for me.
I agree, it doesnt stop your cut avocado from turning brown (although I find it really slows it down) but this is the perfect shape to store/transport to work half an avocado with the stone still in (this helps slow the browning apparently).
didnt work for me
Unlike the same brand lemon storage which is great, this didnt work as storage for avocado. It went brown overnight...
