Better, and easier, to poach directly in the water
pros: keeps the pan/water clean. cons: need to use oil, eggs stick anyway, are a pain to clean, whites get cooked a lot on the outside to cook middle and edges can get a crisped/fried consistency. Huge, so difficult to fit several in even a big pan, and then hazardous to remove. I find that poaching directly in water means nicer eggs. washing chore is no different.
going back to the poacher
A bit of a faff! Nice looking product but I shall go back to dropping the egg directly into the water
not great
I bought these as love poached eggs, but cant make them. the eggs take ages to cook, the rest of the breakfast was ready but waiting ages for the eggs.
Quite fun
Fun to use and the eggs cook nicely, but as previous reviewer said, you have to scoop out the egg with a spoon, invariable leaving some behind. Washing doesnt take long, but despite having oiled the silicon before cooking, you still need to use an abrasive sponge.
Does a good job, but not perfect by any means
I tried these today and followed the results precisely. I piled the insides of the pods properly, but when it came to getting the eggs out, they certainly did not slide. I had a work them free from the mould and scoop them out. This isnt mean to be necessary. They were also more trouble to wash up than I expected. I turned them inside out to scrub off the egg residue. I think there might be better quality silicon products like this.
genius
Never cooked a poached egg before and these were like magic. Perfect!
