Tasting Notes
It seduces us with its deep and brilliant purple colour with shades of violet. The nose, complex, fruity and persistant delivers blackberry and mocha aromas. This wine is well balanced and offers beautiful notes of blackcurrant jam and cacao
History
The quality of the soil, which has long been recognised as such, gave the Château du Cartillon a reputation as early as the 19th century. In 1850 this Cru Bourgeois was clearly mentioned in the first edition of the Féret Guide. At that time the property was owned by Monsieur Alexandre de Bethmann (1805-1870) who was Mayor of Bordeaux from 1867 to 1870. It is reported in the Guide : "located on a gravely terrain, producing one of the best wines in Lamarque". Bronze medal Decanter 2015

In the heart of the Haut-Médoc appellation, the 69 hectares property adjoins three prestigious representatives of the Moulisappellation : the Châteaux of Poujeaux, Maucaillou and Chasse Spleen

its ok
I enjoyed this wine with a beef shin ragu. I let it breathe for 6 hours before serving. Quite heavy, nice-Ish depth. Whilst its a nice wine, there are better out there for the price tag. I wont buy this 2016 vintage again for that reason.

Excellent Haut Medoc
Good structure, depth of flavour, and even better on day 2 after opening. Let it breath for a few hours to get the best this wine has to offer.

Tasted like it's going off...
Just tasted like it's beginning to go off... Very disappointed, as it is not a cheap wine and I was so looking forward to it.
