Not for me
Firstly, the slight odd 'fishy' smell as you open the packet put me off straightaway. Secondly, this is definitely not rice or even anything like it. It's rubbery, very odd texture. I can see the benefit of a low fat/carb filler when you're dieting, but having tried these they'd not be my go-to.
My favourite bare naked product
Great when you need to fill up.
Brilliant for so few calories and carbs.
I wasnt sure about this as I had read reports of fishy smells and horrible texture. I followed the instructions on the pack. It is double wrapped, so when you open it the rice is an another clear plastic bag inside. There was a slight smell when I opened the inner bag, but not noticeably fishy. I rinsed the rice in a sieve under lots of cold water and there was then no smell at all. I put it into the microwave for two minutes on high. It came out looking like rice. I then left it in the oven while my partners basmati was cooking. I had it with a prawn Bhuna and it was absolutely fine. Sure, it didnt have the taste or texture of basmati, but for something like 30 cals for the whole packet it was a very acceptable substitute. It has a slightly gelatinous texture, but is not unpleasant. As part of a low carb diet, I do recommend it. I will be trying the others in the range and also the shirataki noodles from another company.
Love these.
I have tried all this range apart from the protein one and I love all of them. Yes, there is a bit of a weird smell when you open the packet but if you rinse them really well you get rid of it. I have added them straight to sauces or microwaved them and they come out perfectly every time. A great guilt free food that actually makes you feel as though you have still had a substantial and tasty meal.
doesnt taste like rice
But to be honest, when its in a sauce you dont really notice. Perfect when trying to reduce carbs.
Love this - especially good if you are a Diabetic!
Very good when you don't need too many carbs. One of the family is a diabetic so this is a lifesaver. She would not be able to eat rice dishes without this as normal rice is loaded with carbs which turns to sugar and makes her feel very ill upon eating.
