Quality is our obsession, our hallmark, and our promise. We know making exceptional wines takes acute attention to detail in all aspects of wine production. In the vineyards, our yields are around 30% lower than the regional average. In the winery, we use technology, taste and experience to select only the best grapes for each wine. It might mean fewer bottles, but it always means better wine. Beyond the quality of our wines, we care most about protecting this place we call home. Cloudy Bay is a founding member of Sustainable Winegrowing New Zealand. In Central Otago, our vineyards are farmed organically. Selected Estate blocks in Marlborough are trialing organic practices to roll out across the remaining vineyards.

Tasting Notes
Notes of bright, ripe citrus, kaffir lime, passionfruit and white peach. The palate is vibrant and mouthwatering, with contentrated, juicy tropical notes melding with zesty citrus, stone fruits and subtle notes of orchard blossom.
History
Cloudy Bay was established in 1985. After a single sip of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, founder David Hohnen realised New Zealand's potential as a wine region. Cloudy Bay became one of the first five wineries established in Marlborough and is now New Zealand's most recognised winery on the world stage. From the first vintage, Cloudy Bay wines have found international acclaim for their remarkable quality and consistency.
Regional Information
Our Sauvignon Blanc fruit comes largely from vineyards planted in Wairau Valley's Rapaura, Renwick and Brancott Valley sub-regions. The area's warm, dry maritime climate and free-draining gravelly soils are perfect for Sauvignon Blanc. Key blocks include the Estate, Motukawa, Widow's Block, Red Shed, and Mustang vineyards.

Vinification Details
Fruit from each vineyard ferments separately before blending, a critical step in maintaining Cloudy Bay's famous consistency. Rather than blending to make more wine, the winemakers carefully select the right grapes (from over 90 batches) for each year's wine. This means the quantity may change, but never the quality.

fine
It's alright, nice clean sauvignon blanc with a bit of acidity. Scratching my head wondering why it's so expensive

Good, but pricey
This is very dry and acidic but has lovely rich side flavours and smells awesome. Expensive, but worth it on offer or for a special occasion.
